The GMVA is characterized by state-of-the-art combustion technology and the use of advanced flue gas cleaning to reduce air pollutants. Since 1972, the plant has been continuously adapted and expanded in line with the latest state of the art. Today it is one of the most technologically advanced facilities of its kind.



System description
How does a waste incineration plant work in detail and why is it so useful? Which technologies are used? We provide detailed answers to these and many other questions.
Energy production
By thermally recycling waste, GMVA generates energy in the form of electricity and district heating. The amount is sufficient to supply around 100,000 households with electricity.

Operating resources
In the course of thermal utilization, many accompanying processes take place in the GMVA, for which various operating resources are used. The majority of these are used for complex flue gas cleaning.
Residual materials
A full 92% of the thermally treated waste volume can be converted into electricity and heat. But the remaining residual materials are also put to good use. So that as little waste as possible is produced during waste incineration.
